Click on a question below for the answer.
- Why do my "thingies" turn
black and then blue?
- How do I get the Photo CD?
- Can I buy a Photo CD if I am
not a JTHS 70 Alumni?

Ok, read this carefully:
When you click on something on a web page (be it the Discussion entry on our web site or the Photo CD
photo), you are clicking on what is called a hyperlink. A hyperlink is a "link" to some more information. On
our web site, when you click on a Discussion forum entry, you "link" to the entry or actual text itself. When
you click on a "thumbnail" (small photo) you "link" to a larger version therefore it looks like you "blow" it up.
These are all hyperlinks. Hyperlinks are what make the web stuff cool...just click on it and it takes you
there. Now, to help you keep track of where you have been, the web browsers (Netscape and Internet
Explorer) have a setting that will keep a list (cache or history) of where you have been and when you click
on it for the first time, it changes color. This is kind of nice because it lets you know you have been there
before. It is especially nice for the Discussion forum because you won't be reading the same messages
twice....'cause you know "blue" ones (or whatever color you set to be) are new and "black" ones are old. The
only problem is that after a few days, the all become "blue" again. This is because your "history" setting is
set too low.
To change this setting to a longer time (say 60 days)
In Netscape, do the following:
Start Netscape, click on Edit (upper top left of screen), click on
Preferences, click on Navigator, on that page
you should see History: and a line that reads
"Pages in History expire after _____ days. You may have 7 or 9
or some small number. Change this number to something like 60. Click on OK. Your "blacks" will not turn
"blue" again until you have gone 60 days without looking at it again. By that time, I will have taken the 60
day old entries out of the discussion forum anyway.
In Internet Explorer, do the following:
Start Internet Explorer, click on Tools (top middle of screen), click on
Internet Options. You will see a similar entry that reads
"Days to keep pages in history". Change the number to 60. click
OK. Your done.
This will get you ready for the Photo CD so you know when you've looked at one of the 1400 photos.
Now if you ever WANT to change them all back to "blue" just follow the instructions above for your web
browser and click on "Clear History" (instead of setting the number of days), then click on OK.

An announcement page has been prepared for the Photo CD.
